Rajnandgaon (BTI)- In a move to promote fiscal responsibility and encourage timely tax compliance, District Collector Sanjay Agrawal and Municipal Commissioner Atul Vishwakarma set a precedent by clearing their own dues for water tax and consolidated property tax on their official residences. The gesture comes as the financial year 2024-25 nears its closure, with authorities focusing on accelerating revenue collection.

Recognizing the critical need for enhanced revenue inflow during the closing weeks of the fiscal year, the Municipal Corporation has announced that its revenue department will remain operational even on holidays, including Saturdays and Sundays. This initiative aims to facilitate taxpayers in settling outstanding dues such as property tax, consolidated tax, water tax, and shop rentals without delay.
In a public appeal, Collector Agrawal and Commissioner Vishwakarma urged citizens to emulate their example by paying all pending dues promptly. “Just as I have cleared my official water and consolidated property taxes, I appeal to all taxpayers to come forward and settle their dues. Your contributions directly support the salaries of municipal employees and the overall development of the city,” stated Collector Agrawal.
He further called on all government departments to ensure the timely payment of their respective water and consolidated taxes, thereby easing the corporation’s financial load.
Municipal Commissioner Vishwakarma outlined that ward officers have been tasked with ensuring 100% collection of property tax, water tax, consolidated tax, and shop rentals within their jurisdictions. “Taxpayers should clear their dues on time to avoid penalties and additional charges. The corporation’s revenue counters will remain open on holidays and weekends to provide maximum convenience,” he added.
As the fiscal year draws to a close, the district administration and municipal leadership are reinforcing a strong message of civic duty and financial discipline, urging all stakeholders to actively contribute to the city’s growth and infrastructure upkeep by fulfilling their tax obligations promptly.
