Continuing its drive against single-use plastic, the Rajnandgaon Municipal Corporation (RMC) conducted a surprise inspection at the Old Bus Stand and Kailash Nagar area today. Acting against violators, the health department seized over 1 kg of banned polythene, 16 packets of disposable glasses, and imposed a total fine of ₹3,000 on ten vendors.
The crackdown included roadside stalls and provision stores, where RMC officials confiscated plastic items including 15 reams of disposable glasses, spoons, and 4 sacks of water pouches. The drive is part of the government’s effort to protect the environment and public health by strictly enforcing the ban on single-use plastic.
Municipal Commissioner Mr. Atul Vishwakarma emphasized that awareness is being raised among vendors, and strict actions are being taken against repeat offenders. He urged traders to maintain hygiene and avoid selling banned plastic products, while also encouraging citizens to carry cloth bags and adopt eco-friendly habits.
“Our daily inspections will continue until complete compliance is achieved,” said the commissioner.
