On the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti, former Chief Minister and current Speaker of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly, Dr. Raman Singh, paid rich tributes to Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, hailing him as a man who transformed from an individual into an idea, and from an idea into a revolutionary movement.

Speaking at a commemorative event, Dr. Singh reflected on Ambedkar’s birth in Mhow, Indore, and praised his enduring contributions to Indian society. “He was a single man whose vision sparked a nationwide movement—a movement that gave India its Constitution and granted dignity and rights to the Dalits, backward classes, and oppressed sections of society,” he said.

Highlighting the global reverence for Dr. Ambedkar, Singh remarked that April 14, his birth anniversary, is now commemorated worldwide. He also mentioned that the Bharatiya Janata Party is observing the day as part of a nationwide “Seva Pakhwada” (fortnight of service), celebrating Ambedkar’s values of social justice and inclusive development.

“We remember today a proud son of Bharat Mata—whose contributions make us proud as a nation,” Dr. Singh concluded.
