The spirit of grassroots democracy was celebrated in full fervor as Gotatola village hosted the District-Level Panchayati Raj Day on April 24, 2024. The event aimed to educate villagers on the Panchayati Raj system and the vital role it plays in local governance.
Officials explained that Panchayats are the smallest yet most critical units of democracy, entrusted with significant powers to implement development initiatives at the village level. The importance of citizens’ participation in decentralized governance was emphasized, with a focus on transparency, empowerment, and access to basic amenities.
A major milestone of the day was the inauguration of the Atal Panchayat Digital Seva Kendra, a facility that will provide villagers easier access to government services and digital tools. This step is expected to bridge the digital divide and streamline service delivery in rural areas.
As part of the celebrations, numerous villagers were extended benefits under key welfare schemes including the National Old Age Pension, Widow Pension Scheme, and the Mahtari Vandan Yojana—a scheme supporting maternal health and well-being.
Collector Smt. Tulika Prajapati, addressing the gathering, encouraged villagers to proactively seek out information and avail the benefits of government schemes. “Despite eligibility, many remain unaware and miss out on crucial support. I urge all to connect with their local departments to uplift their standard of living,” she said.
Also present were District Panchayat President Smt. Namrata Singh, District CEO Ms. Bharti Chandrakar, and Janpad Panchayat Mohla CEO Smt. Keshwari Dewangan, along with a large gathering of enthusiastic villagers who actively participated in the event.
The event served not just as a celebration, but also as a platform for educating and empowering the rural populace with knowledge, services, and opportunities for a better future.
