Major Action Against Illegal Liquor Sales
In a decisive move against illegal liquor trade, Rajnandgaon police have arrested two dhaba operators and an accomplice under the Excise Act. The accused were caught red-handed selling illicit alcohol at their roadside eateries in Tumdibod and Malaidabri villages. Authorities seized a total of 25.720 liters of illicit liquor during the operation.

Police Action Details
Under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Mohit Garg, Additional Superintendent of Police Rahul Dev Sharma, and City Superintendent of Police Pushpendra Nayak, a team led by Lalbagh Police Station In-charge Isha Agrawal carried out the operation on April 2, 2025. Acting on a tip-off, the Tumdibod Police Outpost team inspected local dhabas for illegal liquor sales.
Key Arrests & Seizures
- Ajay Tejwani, owner of Yara Da Dhaba in Tumdibod, was found selling alcohol illegally. Police confiscated:
- 61 pints of Goa Special Whisky (10.980 liters)
- 4 pints of AC Neat Whisky (720 ml)
- 5 pints of Desi Plain Liquor (900 ml)
- 8 bottles of Shimba Beer (520 ml)
- Total: 17.800 liters of liquor worth ₹10,120
- Mohammad Shahid, an associate of Harpreet Singh alias Happy, was found in possession of:
- 13 pints of Desi Plain Liquor (2.340 liters)
- 31 bottles of Goa Special Whisky (5.580 liters)
- Total: 7.920 liters of liquor worth ₹5,200
Both were arrested under Section 34(2) of the Excise Act and presented before the court, leading to judicial custody.
