“Mosquitoes hurt the body from the outside, but malice (matsar) inflicts pain from within,” said Shastri Shri Ishwar Chandra Ji Vyas, a celebrated orator from Junagadh, Gujarat, during the concluding day of the Shri Devi Bhagwat Katha at Gayatri Shaktipeeth, organized by the Maheshwari Samaj.
Delivering his discourse between 8:00 and 9:00 AM on April 6, Shastri Ji spoke about the destructive nature of inner emotions like jealousy, hatred, and resentment, urging devotees to keep their hearts free from such toxic feelings. “You may endure pain caused by external forces, but how will you bear the suffering caused by what lies within?” he asked the audience with conviction.
The spiritual event concluded with a grand Annakoot Mahaprasad, where over 4,000 to 5,000 people partook in the holy feast. On the following day, April 7 at 4:00 PM, a grand visarjan yatra (immersion procession) was carried out with enthusiastic participation from the community.
Maheshwari Samaj President Pawan Daga shared that Shastri Ji has delivered discourses in over 650 locations across India. This marks his sixth visit to Rajnandgaon. He holds a Visharad in music, a Master’s degree in Chemistry, and has done advanced studies in Sanskrit and grammar. Remarkably, he began delivering kathas at the age of 15 and is adept in Bhagwat, Ramayan, Devi Bhagwat, and Shiv Puran. He is also widely known for his deep knowledge of the Vishnu Sahasranama.
