Rajnandgaon (BTI)– In a determined effort to boost tourism and preserve heritage, Rajnandgaon MP Santosh Pandey met Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in New Delhi on Thursday, advocating for the holistic development of the historic Bhoramdeo Temple, often referred to as the “Khajuraho of Chhattisgarh”.
During the meeting, MP Pandey submitted a formal letter requesting a special allocation of ₹10 crore for the temple’s restoration and infrastructure upgrade. He emphasized the cultural and spiritual significance of Bhoramdeo, located approximately 18 km from Kawardha, nestled in the lap of the Maikal Hills.
Highlighting its rich legacy, Pandey described the 11th-century temple as an architectural marvel steeped in Indian art, tribal heritage, and spirituality. The temple, situated in a Baiga tribal-dominated region, draws thousands of domestic and international tourists annually. The complex also houses rare sculptures, a museum, and ancient structures like the Madwa Mahal and Cherki Mahal, enriching the area’s historical landscape.
The MP stressed the urgent need for improved amenities, including sheds for devotees during monsoon pilgrimages, better lighting, drinking water facilities, landscaping, and repairs of the temple premises.
Responding positively, Minister Shekhawat assured swift action and committed to sanctioning the required funds soon. He also expressed interest in visiting the temple following Pandey’s invitation.
