Former Member of Parliament Abhishek Singh has expressed deep gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the recent approval of the ambitious Kharsia–Naya Raipur–Parmalaksa railway line, calling it a gateway to a “new era of development” in Chhattisgarh. The announcement was made during the Prime Minister’s recent visit to the state, signaling the government’s commitment to transforming regional connectivity and infrastructure.
Valued at ₹8,741 crore, the project spans 278 kilometers of route length, with 615 kilometers of track to be laid. It promises to significantly enhance rail access for underserved regions like Baloda Bazar and neighboring areas, offering direct rail connectivity that has long been awaited.
“This isn’t just a railway line,” Singh stated, “but a corridor of opportunity for trade, industry, and employment. With this project, unprecedented development will be unlocked in previously inaccessible regions.”
The infrastructure plan includes the construction of 21 new railway stations, 48 major bridges, 349 minor bridges, 14 railway overbridges (ROBs), 184 underbridges, and 5 rail flyovers. Such an extensive framework is expected to drastically reduce dependence on road transport, with projected savings of ₹2,520 crore in logistics costs annually, and a diesel savings of ₹22 crore per year, thereby contributing significantly to environmental sustainability.
Sharing insights through a statement from the Media Cell, Singh underscored the multifaceted benefits of the project, especially in terms of economic acceleration, green logistics, and affordable passenger transit. He emphasized that the initiative aligns with the government’s broader vision for integrated and inclusive growth across Chhattisgarh.
The former MP extended his special thanks to Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh, State Minister Tokhan Sahu, and MP Santosh Pandey for their roles in making this landmark project a reality.
Singh further noted that Rajnandgaon, a key district in the region, stands to gain immensely from the project, which is poised to act as a growth engine not just for transportation, but for commerce, employment, and ecological progress.
“This marks the beginning of a new era,” Singh concluded, “where connectivity translates to opportunity, and vision becomes infrastructure.”
