Accused Snatched Mobile from a Young Woman in Rajnandgaon
Rajnandgaon – In a swift action, Basantpur police arrested a youth and a juvenile involved in a mobile snatching case near Gauravpath Road. The accused, riding a black Activa scooter, snatched a Vivo smartphone from the hands of a young woman and fled the scene. The incident took place on April 2, 2025, at approximately 8:30 AM.
Incident Details
According to the complaint filed by the victim, she was walking with a friend after attending her coaching class when two unidentified individuals approached her on a black Activa scooter (CG-08-NA-9289). As they neared Urja Park, the pillion rider swiftly snatched the mobile phone from her hand and sped away.
Following the complaint, Basantpur Police Station registered a case under IPC Section 304 and initiated an investigation.
Swift Police Action
Taking the matter seriously, Superintendent of Police Mohit Garg (IPS) instructed his team to identify and apprehend the culprits. Under the guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police Rahul Dev Sharma and City Superintendent of Police Pushpendra Nayak, a special team was formed, led by Station House Officer (SHO) Eman Sahu.
The police team:
- Reviewed CCTV footage from the crime scene and surrounding areas.
- Identified suspects based on surveillance footage.
- Apprehended two individuals after tracing their movements.
Arrest and Seizure
The accused were identified as Manish Patel (19 years), son of Rohit Patel, a resident of Birejhar village, and a juvenile in conflict with the law. Upon interrogation, both confessed to the crime.

- One Vivo smartphone snatched from the victim.
- Black Activa scooter (CG-08-NA-9289) used in the crime.
Both accused were presented before the honorable court, where Manish Patel was remanded to Rajnandgaon District Jail, while the juvenile was sent to a correctional facility.
