In a significant development for sports in Chhattisgarh, the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has greenlit the construction of an 800-meter, four-lane synthetic track at Rajnandgaon’s Digvijay Stadium. The ₹6.36 crore project will be developed under the Khelo India initiative and marks a major leap for local athletic infrastructure.

District Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) President Monu Bahadur Singh expressed enthusiasm over the approval, stating that the facility will serve as a launchpad for budding athletes and help refine the skills of existing talent. He emphasized that such international-standard infrastructure will play a key role in preparing the next generation of athletes for national and international competitions.
Singh credited former Chief Minister and current Speaker Dr. Raman Singh for his relentless efforts and personal recommendation, which were pivotal in securing the project. “This is yet another milestone in Dr. Singh’s commitment to transforming Rajnandgaon into a sports-centric city,” he said, citing previous developments such as the international hockey stadium and multi-sports complex at the same venue.
He also acknowledged the support of MP Santosh Pandey in facilitating this advancement. Singh added that with these developments, Rajnandgaon is steadily emerging as a prominent sports hub in Chhattisgarh.
The synthetic track is expected to attract not only local athletes but also state-level events, enhancing opportunities for youth and positioning Rajnandgaon as a key player on India’s sports map.
